Why I Started Hashcodex: Chandru on Building a Fintech Company From Scratch

I did not start Hashcodex because I wanted to start just another technology company. The thought came from something I kept noticing in fintech.
I would come across businesses with strong ideas for financial products. Some wanted to build crypto exchanges. Others were looking at trading platforms, payment solutions, digital banking products, or blockchain applications.
The business vision was often clear. The technology side was a different story.
There were questions about the right technology, integrations, trading systems, payment connections, wallets, user management, and many other parts that had to work together.
I started wondering why there was such a gap between having a product idea and having the technology to build it.
That question stayed with me. Then, in 2024, I decided to do something about it.
Starting Hashcodex.
When I started Hashcodex in 2024, I had one thought in mind.
I wanted to build a company that understood both technology and fintech products.
I did not want every conversation to begin with, “Which features should we develop?”
I wanted it to begin with, “What is the business trying to build?”
That difference became important.
If a business wanted to build a crypto exchange, we needed to understand the exchange first.
What would users trade? How would the platform work? What kind of trading experience would users expect? What systems would be needed behind the platform?
The same questions applied to other financial products.
So, we started by understanding the product and then looking at the technology.
The Early Days Were Full of Learning
Starting a company sounds exciting when it is just an idea. Actually building one teaches a different set of lessons.
There were technical decisions to make. There were client requirements to understand. There were new technologies to learn and different markets to study.
Sometimes, a requirement that sounded simple during the first conversation turned out to have several layers behind it.
That happened more than once.
But those situations taught us to ask better questions.
Instead of rushing into development, we started spending more time understanding what the business actually needed.
I learned that some of the most useful work happens before development even begins.
Sometimes, it is simply a conversation.
Why Understanding the Product Mattered
Technology is exciting. There is always a new blockchain, framework, tool, or technology getting attention. But I have learned not to start there.
The first question should be:
What problem is the product solving?
Once that is clear, technology choices become much easier to discuss.
For example, a trading platform may need market data, trading charts, order management, payment support, wallets, user accounts, and other components.
A payment platform may need completely different systems.
The technology should follow the product requirement.
That principle has stayed with me since the beginning of Hashcodex.
Building the Team
Soon after starting the company, I also realised that building Hashcodex was not something I could do alone.
The right people were important.
I wanted team members who could do more than write code. They needed to understand what they were building and why it mattered to the product.
I wanted people who would ask questions, learn from each project, and bring that learning into the next one.
What Businesses Have Taught Me
Working with businesses has probably been one of the most valuable parts of building Hashcodex.
Every business approaches a product differently.
Some people come with years of experience in finance. Some know their market very well but need help on the technology side. Others have a new concept and are still working out how the product should look.
Those conversations have taught me to listen carefully.
A business owner may mention one feature, but behind that feature there may be a much bigger requirement.
So instead of immediately asking, “How can we build this?”
I prefer asking: “Why is this needed?”
That question can change the entire conversation.
Fintech Is Different From Market to Market
Another lesson came from working with businesses in different markets.
Financial technology does not work the same way everywhere.
Payment preferences can be different. Customer expectations can be different. Regulatory requirements can be different. Even the way people interact with financial products can vary.
That means a product should be planned around the market it is entering.
A solution that works for one business may not be the right choice for another.
This is something I have come to appreciate more with every project.
The Part I Enjoy Most
There is one part of building Hashcodex that I still enjoy the most.
It is seeing an idea become a working product.
A business may come to us with a few pages of notes, a product concept, or even just a conversation about what they want to build.
Then the questions begin.
What should the platform do? What should users see? What technology is needed? What should be built first? What can wait?
Over time, those discussions turn into designs, development, testing, and eventually a product.
Being part of that process is rewarding.
It reminds me why I started Hashcodex in the first place.
Where Hashcodex Is Today
Since starting in 2024, Hashcodex has worked across different areas of fintech and blockchain technology.
Our work includes cryptocurrency exchanges, trading platforms, payment solutions, wallets, digital banking products, forex technology, and other financial applications.
The industry continues to introduce new possibilities. Blockchain has opened discussions around digital assets and tokenization. AI is creating new possibilities for financial products. Trading technology continues to develop. Digital payments continue to change how people interact with financial services.
For me, the interesting part is not simply following every new trend.
It is understanding which technologies have a useful place in a product.
What Comes Next For Hashcodex
I do not believe there will be one technology that defines the future of finance.
It will be a combination of different technologies working together.
Blockchain will have its role. AI will have its role.
Trading technology, digital payments, banking platforms, and other financial systems will continue to develop.
The interesting part will be seeing how businesses bring these technologies together to solve actual problems.
That is where I want Hashcodex to continue growing.
There are new products to build, new markets to understand, and new lessons to learn.
What I Would Tell Someone Starting Today
If I could give one piece of advice to someone starting a fintech company today, it would be simple:
Understand the product before choosing the technology.
It is tempting to start by discussing features, programming languages, blockchain networks, or AI tools.
But those decisions should come after understanding the business.
Who is the product for? What problem does it solve? Which market is it entering? What does the first version actually need? What can wait until later?
Answering those questions can give a business much more clarity before development begins.
And one more thing I have learned: ask questions.
There is nothing wrong with saying, “I don’t know yet.”
Some of the best decisions come from conversations where everyone is willing to ask, listen, and learn.
Looking Back
Hashcodex is still a young company.
We started in 2024, and there have already been plenty of lessons.
Some came from successful projects.
Some came from difficult conversations.
Some came from decisions that I would approach differently today.
But I value all of them.
Every project gives us something new to learn.
Every business brings a different perspective.
Every change in fintech gives us another reason to understand the industry better.
When I think about why I started Hashcodex, the answer is still the same. I saw businesses with ideas for financial products and a need for the right technology to bring those ideas to life. I wanted to help bridge that gap. That is what Hashcodex is about for me.
Understand the problem. Listen to the business. Build the right technology. And keep learning from every product we create.
