Gaurav Jain: Building LinBerlin on India’s Forgotten Fragrance Legacy

I am Gaurav Jain, founder of LinBerlin Luxury Perfumes.
My entrepreneurial journey began in 2005, when I founded YuvaJobs.com, one of India’s early job portals. For more than two decades I built technology businesses, digital platforms, and online products. That work taught me how to solve problems, build systems, and understand customers, but I still wanted to create something people could experience more personally, not just use on a screen.
That search eventually led me into perfumery. While researching the history of fragrance, I became fascinated by India’s ancient fragrance heritage, especially Gandhayukti – the traditional knowledge of blending aromatic ingredients. I was surprised by how little this part of India’s story was represented in modern luxury fragrance conversations, which are usually dominated by France and the Middle East. That gap became the beginning of LinBerlin.
LinBerlin is not about recreating ancient formulas. It is my attempt to build a bridge between India’s timeless fragrance wisdom and modern luxury perfumery. The idea is simple: take inspiration from Gandhayukti and India’s long tradition of attars, flowers, woods, herbs, spices, and natural oils, then reinterpret that heritage through contemporary fragrance development, premium ingredients, elegant packaging, and modern craftsmanship.
Today, LinBerlin’s luxury perfumes collection is live on our own e-commerce platform, and we also offer premium attars.
Building the brand has meant learning every part of the process from the ground up – researching ingredients, testing fragrance compositions, speaking with perfumers, refining packaging, and listening carefully to customer feedback.
As a bootstrapped founder, I continue to lead product strategy, branding, technology, e-commerce, and customer experience myself. That hands-on approach matters to me because LinBerlin is still in its early journey, and I want each product to reflect the quality and care that a luxury fragrance brand should stand for.
What I am building is bigger than a perfume label. My ambition is to create a globally respected Indian luxury fragrance house that helps people rediscover India’s fragrance heritage while meeting modern expectations for design, performance, and experience. I believe the strongest brands are often built at the intersection of memory and innovation and that is exactly where LinBerlin lives.
If there is one idea behind LinBerlin, it is this: India should not only be remembered for its fragrance past. It should also help shape the future of modern perfumery.
At LinBerlin, that future begins by bridging Gandhayukti with contemporary luxury – one fragrance at a time.
